Berry Sauce - Pantry Dish

A great replacement for maple syrup.  We top lots of things with this including pizza and meat.

2 cups
frozen berries (mixed or single variety)
1⁄2 teaspoon
ground cloves
1⁄2 teaspoon
ground allspice
1 teaspoon
arrowroot (optional)

Place the berries and spices in a pan. Add enough water to cover the bottom of the pan. Cook covered over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally; reduce heat when bubbling.

If using arrowroot, mix equal parts cold water and arrowroot in a small bowl, stir until all of the arrowroot is disolved. Pour it in into the pan to thicken the sauce. Remove from heat and serve.

Can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week or may be frozen. (Recipe♦186)
